Bollinger’s SpeciaI Cuvée

Honeyed malt, bread dough, baked apple, and gingersnap aromas are accented by undertones of marzipan and fennel seed in this rich, smoky Champagne. Everything is brought together by the wine’s strong acidity, which blends wonderfully into the layers of taste and polished texture, leaving a lingering finish.’ – 94/100 by Wine Spectator

‘Dominated by Pinot Noir and fermented and aged in wood, this Champagne boasts a remarkable balance of freshness and richness.’ It’s juicy and powerful, with apple and minerality combining. ‘The bottling is ready for consumption.’ — Roger Voss, 92/100, Wine Enthusiast

‘The current edition of Bollinger’s NV Brut Special Cuvée, released in the second half of 2019, is based on the 2015 vintage, with roughly 60% reserve wines. After all these years, the wine is still tightly coiled.

With flavors of crisp yellow orchard fruit, freshly baked bread, crystalline honey, and orange peel, it opens in the glass with minimal evidence of the nuttiness that comes with bottle age. With a deep core, juicy acidity, and a precise mousse, it’s medium to full-bodied, muscular, and incipiently tactile on the palate. This isn’t the most incisive vintage of Special Cuvée, but it’s robust and vinous, and with a little bottle age, it’ll have great gastronomic potential. Drink between 2022 and 2035. 91+/100 – William Kelley, Wine Advocate
