‘The current edition of Bollinger’s NV Brut Special Cuvée, released in the second half of 2019, is based on the 2015 vintage, with roughly 60% reserve wines. After all these years, the wine is still tightly coiled.
With flavors of crisp yellow orchard fruit, freshly baked bread, crystalline honey, and orange peel, it opens in the glass with minimal evidence of the nuttiness that comes with bottle age. With a deep core, juicy acidity, and a precise mousse, it’s medium to full-bodied, muscular, and incipiently tactile on the palate. This isn’t the most incisive vintage of Special Cuvée, but it’s robust and vinous, and with a little bottle age, it’ll have great gastronomic potential.
